Got Joost.com

Posted in TV | Apr 27, 2007 12:23:PM |

The other day Russ Johnson at http://www.angry-fly.com had three invites he was giving away, well this morning I got one from a random name picker thingy of some sort. Sorry Russ I don't know all the details.

So I installed it and it's pretty sweet, my computers performance is not affected by the propgrams playing. I think once they add more content it's going to be real popular.

Ben Forta - Scorpio Pre Realease Tour

Posted in ColdFusion | Apr 26, 2007 10:32:AM |

So I met Ben Forta last night at the DenverCFUG meeting, showing off all the cool new features of ColdFusion 8 (aka Scorpio). Although since we were the third stop on the tour we didn't get to see all the new features. As Ben put it everyone would post them on there blogs and the other tour stops wouldn't be surprised with them. So I'm not even going to tell you what's coming only there are some really cool things I can not wait to use. I also won a Scorpio shirt which I offered to Ray Camden for a contest prize. I also got some cool M&M's with in ColdFusion Blue and Adobe Red which I gave to my boy, needless to say there all gone.

One night Apollo conference in Bolder, CO

Posted in Apollo | Apr 17, 2007 8:31:PM |

Ray Camden gave me the scoop on this, a one night conference "ApolloRanch - Hosted by Creation Chamber and Xylem Interactive" on May 5th. I'm so glad this is so close to home, I have a million question about Apollo and I'm sure I'll find the answers here. I will be posting my comments and what not the day after.

Also on the 25th of April Ben Forta will be here showing off Scorpio, presented by Denver CFUG. I was thinking of getting a WWBD* (*What Would Ben Do) shirt from ColdFusion Gear. OK, the shirt is cool but I don't think I'm that much of a geek, hehe.

Major work ahead for CFBloggy

Posted in CFBloggy | Apr 05, 2007 11:04:PM |

So I have just over a month till my training in Houston for my advanced ColdFusion training. So I'm working really hard to get CFBloggy and the Link Exchange system up to standards. I will be showing them in class and want to present some nice code, also to get answers on a few things that have been bugging me. I'm going to put down the Flex book till the training is done so I can focus on getting the most out of it. I'll keep everyone posted on the training and the updates to the blog. I hope to have some time over the weekend to get some major updates on CFBloggy pushed through.

The Link Exchange System is almost complete, but I want to clean it up and test some more before I release it. Look for the Beta release next weekend.

Learning Flex 2 means learning ActionScript 3

Posted in Flex | Mar 31, 2007 9:02:PM |

So for the last three weeks or so I have been reading "Adobe Flex 2 Training from the Source". I've also been watching the Flex 2 training videos from Lynda.com and I must say there great. Since I started learning web development I have always stayed away from Flash, I not a graphics guy so when I started learning to develop web application I never though I would need Flash. That's for the designer guys I would always say, then Flash introduced ActionScript, yet another reason for me to stay away. Now here it is years and years later and now I have to learn ActionScript 3.

Well at least I have a strong background in web applications, my OOP is weak but with my books, videos, and the occasional email to some Flex Developers I'm moving forward. I have also been reading up on CFC's as they are a big part of the Flex integration.

Posted in General | Mar 30, 2007 4:39:PM |

Well I have been trying to think of a cool Apollo app to build I have been studing my Flex stuff and I think I have something pretty cool. I'm hoping to get through all the Flex training in the next few weeks. I'm also going to Advanced ColdFusion training at the end of May. Once I'm comforable with Flex and done with my training I'll start my Apollo app, I won't say what it is cause then someone will build it before me. Well I'm out back to studing.

Adobe Flex 2 Training from the Source

Posted in Flex | Mar 21, 2007 10:05:AM |

So the last week I have been reading "Adobe Flex 2 Training from the Source". I have my Advanced ColdFusion training at the end of May, and want to get through this book before I go. I am on Chapter 5 and ran into a problem.

While working on an AS 3 script I was getting an error when I would compile my code. The book for those that don't know about it is simple a step by step guide to creating a Flex app and explains all the features and components of Flex along the way. A great book for getting your feet wet with Flex 2.0.

Yea it's been 2 weeks!!!!

Posted in General | Mar 08, 2007 8:56:PM |

Yea it's been awhile since I have posted anything, work has been busy and life a little hectic. I've been working on some big projects and my day update work has been really busy, so I haven't had much time to work on anything. Tomorrow looks even busier then today and I'm hoping Sunday I will have some free time to work on some side projects.

I have been doing some reading on Flex, I really want to get good with Flex. I am going to training at the end of May for the finial piece of my ColdFusion training. I am hoping to really get the understanding of CFC's I need. Yea I can create CFC's for queries my blog runs on them, but I really want to understand how to complex functions. I have only been working with ColdFusion full time for almost 14 months. I worked with PHP for years before that but I think the future of the web will be OOP so CFC's I need to get down.

If ColdFusion has to get pages from cheap dedicated servers, it may save you good time. After domain name registration, you can have your site's web space allocated. You also need to take care of the html or dynamic pages if you are looking for great search engine ranking of your web pages. The downlaod time can be enhanced by using cable internet. If all this sounds too complicated then an oracle certification or 642-453 test would be a good option to consider.
