So it looks like another blizzard is rolling into Colorado, so nothing better to do then some coding. I'm going to get the Link Exchange System front end plugged into the site, basically make the links page very nice. I also have a few things to fix up on it to, want to make sure it works perfectly before i release the code.

OK, so Joshua over at Useful Concepts informed me that I was having problems with my feed and dates and so on. I knew they where there and needed to be addressed but set it to the back burner. With more and more people sign up for my feed and signing up for the email subscription I thought I would fix it all today.

I know I know I haven't posted anything I haven't finished the Link Exchange system. I have plugged in most of it and there is still alot of testing to do. If anyone wants to help here is the link to add your link and here is the link to view links in the system. There is only one category so far I haven't even hit the admin side yet pay work come before free work.

I worked a little on the Link Exchange system over the weekend, I got the whole user interface completed. I need to clean it up over the next couple of nights for download, and I need to add it to my blog. I still need to write the code for the hits in and out counting.
I'm not going to add any CSS to it cause I'm sure anyone using it will have a style already so you can add your CSS to it, I'm not going to force my styles on anyone =).
So look out on Tuesday night for the download link and a link to a working live version on my site.

So from time to time I'm contacted about jobs, today is one of those days. A .com company out of San Diego, CA contacted me today about a ColdFusion Developer job. Of course I had to turn it down but if anyone is interests post a comment letting me know and I'll email you their info. They said you could work remotely so if you don't live in San Diego you could still get the job. I checked out their site and it's really nice. Looks like a great company to work for.
Why didn't I take it? Well I have a great CF job with the best company in the world, and soon will make partner so I have no reason to leave now or ever for that matter. I worked for an evil company for 6 years and hated every day, watch Office Space that was my life. Now I couldn't be happier. Let me know if anyone is interested.

So Ray Camden posted about this the other day and being a Dreamweaver user and never really jumping in to Eclipse, so I thought I would check it out.
CFEclipse TV gets you started using CFEclipse and really explains the fundamentals of it. I have to say after watching the 6 shows up there now I fell good about using CFEclipse and will start to stray away from Dreamweaver.

So I'm late for the bus again, I'm sure many people have found this already. FireFox has a cool plugin called FireBug, it has some very cool development tools to help edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and Javascript in real time. Check it out, I'm loving it.

Now that we have our outline, our database and an idea of what we want to do lets first build the addlink.cfm page. We need to let users add their link to our system.

I just found out from DenverCFUG.com that Ben Forta is coming to Denver on April 25, 2007. Ben will be demoing new features of the forthcoming release of ColdFusion "Scorpio". Also there will be door prizes you must RSVP and be present to win.
If you live any where near Denver this is a great opportunity.
Hope to see you there.

So we have our outline, we knocked out the hardest part of the admin section, now let actually start building the application. Here is the database outline for the 2 tables we will need. The first is the links table, this holds all the link information. The second table is for the categories the links will fall under. Lets take a look at the links table and I'll explain some of the fields.

If ColdFusion has to get pages from
cheap dedicated servers, it may save you good time. After domain name registration, you can have your site's web space allocated. You also need to take care of the html or dynamic pages if you are looking for great
search engine ranking of your web pages. The downlaod time can be enhanced by using cable internet. If all this sounds too complicated then an oracle certification or 642-453 test would be a good option to consider.
